WHY ARE YOU NOT WEARING CLOTHES?

Sat May 3, 2014, 3:22 PM
...and other things we don’t care about.

This is a quick journal entry explaining one or more things you’ve been thinking about regarding our stock. Most likely, we have linked you to this entry after you’ve posted an impolite or ignorant comment and we want to set you straight, or you've ventured out to the void of journals. So here we go!

Note : This is not our FAQ. That can be found here .

WHY ARE YOU NOT WEARING CLOTHES?
This is pose reference stock, aka stock that artists who need inspiration or a guide can use to create a finished piece. Learn more about why it is so vital to be scantily clad here .

BUT THAT’S SO UNREALISTIC!
Quite frankly, we don’t care! We don’t post comments on you art boasting about how fake it looks. It doesn’t serve a purpose. Evidently, people have found our stock incredibly useful, even if it doesn’t look at all convincing to you. Take a gander at the ‘favourites’ to the right and be amazed at the number who have actually appreciated it.

WHY HEELS? AHHH!
If you saw our inbox, you’d know why heels are a thing. It’s because it’s easier to draw flat feet than to draw heels. Heels are quite tricky. Quite simply, people prefer the heels as if gives them the option of drawing them if they wish.  If they don’t, they just need to replace them with flat feet which is simple.

THIS IS ALRIGHT BUT THE LIGHTING IS AWFUL, THE CAMERA ANGLE IS TERRIBLE, THE MODEL IS UNCONVINCING , YADDA YADDA YADDA...
Stahp! We don’t want your critique! Pose references aren’t classed as art, so please don’t judge them as such.  References are simply blank bases from which artists can draw their inspiration from.

Okay, that’s all for now. So please before you post a comment, hone your ranting, turn the volume down and accept that even though you might think our work is the worst thing you’ve ever seen, someone out there will appreciate it.
~ USE IT IF IT HELPS YOU, MOVE ALONG IF IT DOESN’T ~

I understand why you have your models do what they have to do, that way you know how the muscles and body will look in a particular pose. With that you will know how to put everything together correctly. :)

... Some people are stupid ,seriously...
I support you and I like your concept. People don't realize sometimes how certain poses are hard to draw. And some people need bases Sigh

Okay.. I actually appreciate what you two do, not just from the main reasons you post your stock but I also think you two are beautiful physically. Anyone who wants to knock on you guys, shame on them! I don't know if you know this but I used snippets of both of you for my literature. It helps to know how the body bends and how to describe them. LOL. Keep up the beautiful work you two. I have to ask though, are you two a couple or are you friends collaborating? A couple doing this would be an interesting concept. One of these days, maybe the two of you to pose together, like dancing or holding one or the other. You guys have a unique opportunity. ^w^

So let me get this straight...there's a wonderful, physically fit young woman, acting as an artists' model in a variety of high-def pictures, wearing nearly nothing yet staying tasteful, FOR FREE, and there are complaints?

The internets are a messed up place.

Please continue your great work, and to paraphrase a dozen or so messages in my h.s. yearbook, "Shake dem hattas off"

It REALLY bugs me when people criticise ref. stock Nuu , especially when it is free and made to assist artists in their work. Anyhow, good on you Clap and thanks for making great stock Frozen - Olaf's Joy Icon

I actually need more stock pictures with 'clotheless' models or at least only a bra and underwear. I'm trying to draw and learn anatomy and poses and stuff, and it's so hard to visualize the pose with different clothes or w.o any clothes. ;_;

Personally, I like your stock as well as a few others the most. I'm tired of seeing all of the costumes and such, the only thing that would be useful for is fashion/costume references for your characters. When you want to get the main foundation of anatomy you need references such as this. You can't make a good drawing without starting from the bottomo which in this case is getting the form down. Your stocks do that, and I really appreciate it :tighthug:

I find your stock to be very helpful.  I personally prefer not to draw nude figures, but when I look for models with cloths they usually covers up parts (or all) of the form I'd like to reference.  I appreciate that you keep more private areas covered while letting the artist see the model as a whole.  For those learning or practicing anatomy it is is a vital part of the learning process to see as much of the models form as they can.
One other thing I'd like to point out, and I mean no offense; it is nice when there is a certain structure of light and shadow on a model, not that I am criticizing or critiquing your work (like I said a very much appreciate being able to use your stock as reference,) but when there is good light and shadow artist are able to get more out of the poses and make the form look even better.  A lot of artist I know like a 3 point light system to work from, one main light that's strongest, a subtle back light for rim-lighting, and an even subtler light to soften the other two.
Anyway, keep doing what your doing guys, because there are those out their who are benefiting form it and they are thankful for the reference you're providing for them. :>

I always like finding new stock people.  The service you all provide is exceedingly valuable :)  I look forward to get some sketching time with your resources ^__^  (The positive need to be just as vocal as the negative people, helps balance things out.)
